Domains and Ontologies

Recently, several people have asked me how the building of ontologies relates to domain engineering. Ruben Prieto-Diaz has written an interesting paper comparing the two, and showing that they have much in common. Here is a link to his paper.

Other current work on building ontologies includes OWL based on description logics.

Very interesting paper, it is good to see how semantic web resources play in favor of Domain Engineering (DE) field. Going further, I envisage the creation of OWL-based descriptors based on Domain Engineering rules in order to maintain the semantics of specific DE process and consequently speed up the domain modeling.
